4 star book

Megan Scott wakes up with a huge hangover in a stranger’s bed. After finding her bearings Megan realizes that she has married this stranger but she can’t remember why this ever seemed like a good plan, seeing as she had sworn off men after so many failed relationships. And however good looking Connor is, getting married during a bachelorette’s party in Vegas just wasn’t the plan. But it’s only when Connor tells her he doesn’t want a divorce that things really start to get weird. What does he want with her and why had she agreed?

I really enjoyed this book, partially because it just turned out to be different from what I had expected plot-wise. It was a lot less cliché than the title lets you expect. Because let’s be honest, we’ve all seen a movie based on the statement in the title and usually it all turns out to be the same story with different actors. But this book had some different motivations behind the marriage than just a drunk night out turned romantical.

As mentioned previously, I had expected the cliché and got this much more interesting story. This was a very pleasant surprise to say the least. Naturally people had still gotten married while being under the influence, but other than that there wasn’t anything very ordinary about this tale. Besides the interesting story I also believed the characters, although they did happen to be slightly cliché. They both happen to be handsome, Connor happens to be wealthy with money to spare (and doesn’t mind spending it either). If you, just like me, have been reading stories that involves boys/guys I guess you must have caught on to the crooked smile trend as well. Whenever a guy is mentioned to be sexy, he usually sports a crooked smile. This is the new thing apparently and it’s all the rage.

Overall the writing was good and it definitely suited the story and the themes it carried. The book had a nice length and didn’t feel at all too long or too short. So if I liked the book so much, why didn’t I give it a five star rating? It just didn’t blow me away. It was good and if you are into romance I recommend that you check out “waking up married”. It’s a fun read, so check it out if the synopsis appeals to you.
